Growing espalier fruit tree is a fantastic way to produce an abundance on fruit in a small space, it’s also a interesting feature. Espalier fruit trees are grown in a line and trained along horizontal running wires. When the line is facing North-South the trees catch more sunlight, from one side in the morning and the other in the afternoon, hence giving them more energy. By bending the branches down or more towards the horizontal position the tree begins to produce a hormone called Gibberellin which promotes fruiting. After two to three years you should start seeing an impressive crop.

Sustainable Outdoors can easily set this up in almost any suburban front or backyard. Along the fence line is also possible.
